CNC Shop Signs

Celebrate and personalize your workshop with a custom sign. It’s a good way to build your CNC skills.

If you’re new to the craft of CNC woodworking, a good project to try out would be making the parts for the signs you see here. And if you’re a CNC master, crafting a sign for your shop is a fine way to gussy up the look of the place that you love to hang out. As with all of the CNC projects we do, we'll provide the DXF files. As you can see in the two fine examples shown here, there’s a lot more fun to be had than just cutting out parts. First, unless your name is Steve Johnson or Marc Hopkins you’ll have some creative challenges to tackle when you’re arranging the letters for your sign. Also, while we provide you with the paint colors we used, don’t think those choices are set in stone — you can mix and match the colors to fit your shop as you like. Later on we’ll talk more about design choices like this. Now, let’s talk about the basic structure of the two signs we’ve designed. All the parts for both signs are made from MDF sheet stock. Due to its workability and stable nature, MDF is often the material of choice for interior signs. As for the look of the signs — the two options you see here give you options from formal to casual. Having those options of design at your disposal sets the table for you coming up with the perfect sign that is sure to enhance your shop.
