Flammable Storage Cabinet
Customizable and wall-mounted, this storage cabinet for flammables helps keep your shop organized and your finishing supplies safe.
One area where my attention to safety often falls short is with my finishing supplies. While there are no sharp blades or motors to worry about, flammable liquids like stains and sealants present dangers all their own. This cabinet was made to meet the requirements of the National Fire Protection Association for a wooden flammables storage cabinet, using exterior-grade plywood, flame-retardant paint, and lipped reservoirs to prevent spillage. Plus, it’s a great way to organize your shop and free up some precious surface space. The design shown here specifies one aerosol rack on the left and one shelf on the right, but don’t feel bogged down by specifics if there’s something else you need. Want more space for cans? No problem, just mirror the left interior parts over on the right. If you’d like more shelving, do the reverse. The interior parts of this cabinet are easy to change when building, depending on your shop needs.
