Two-Drawer Bookcase

This Craftsman-style bookcase uses traditional woodworking techniques to create a project that adds style and storage to your home.

This project looks to be a relatively simple, medium-size bookcase with a couple drawers at the bottom. But this project includes some pretty interesting woodworking techniques. The shelves, for instance, are solid wood panels over 11" wide, so they need to be able to expand and contract freely. This design uses a traditional joinery solution: sliding half dovetails that allow the shelves to move with seasonal changes in humidity without causing the joints to loosen.
