Three-Drawer Coffee Table

Rich in detail, but surprisingly straightforward to build, this project offers a great shop experience followed by years of enjoyable use.

This design is loosely based on tall chests of narrow drawers used to store maps. But a change in scale creates a project that combines handy storage with a spacious coffee table. Despite the impressive appearance, you’ll find that your time in the shop is pretty relaxed. In essence, the case is a plywood and web frame shell that’s “skinned” with a frame and panel exterior. This simplifies the work by letting you make and add the exterior details individually. There’s no harrowing “one shot” case assembly. Just take it leisurely and look forward to the end result.
