Arts and Crafts Hayrake Table

The heart of this rustic table is its hayrake-shaped stretcher inspired by English Arts and Crafts designer Sidney Barnsley. The quartersawn white oak project includes an array of mortise-and-tenon joints including through-tenons and wedged tenons. The curved and angled joinery of the hayrake looks complex, but the construction is broken down into a series of straightforward steps. Drawboring the hayrake joints also simplifies building, since you can glue them up without clamps. The edges of the project are eased with machine-cut chamfers that are fine-tuned by hand.
